The inspiration for the new series…

Around the time I was wrapping up my Home to Harmony series, I started brainstorming my next project. Writing isn’t always about being struck by an idea or hearing your character’s voices. Neither is it chasing an elusive muse. At least not in my experience.

For me, writing is a creative endeavor that I work hard at and nurture. I brainstorm, I outline, I write, I edit. It’s as unglamorous a process as those words describe. But it’s the love of storytelling that keeps me learning, developing, and publishing.

I loved creating a close knit community in Harmony, Illinois and wanted to do so again in a new setting. I challenged myself by picking a ranch in the middle of nowhere. If I only wrote what I know, aka life in a busy suburb, I’d get bored (you would too!).

As soon as I had the place, I found the people. Legacies fascinate me for two reasons. Number one, someone has to start it (and I love an ambitious person). And because legacies aren’t always an unbroken familial chain.

In fact, in Finders Keepers, Cowboy, the MMC (male main character) was raised by his grandparents after his parents’ untimely deaths. The legacy endures in spite of tragedy.

Once I tapped into the history, I discovered the story. I am so excited to share this trilogy with you next week! These books found my late agent, Dawn Dowdle, and mark the next phase of my writing. I hope readers will find all the heart and hijinx they’ve come to love!

Don’t forget to join me for a book release celebration! Starting at 11am central time on March 26th, I’ll be on the Rowan Prose Publishing Facebook Page hosting games and giveaways to launch Finders Keepers, Cowboy.
