Happy December! Welcome to the Christmas Christian Fiction Scavenger Hunt!

Here’s how it works: At each author’s blog post, you will find a question that can be answered by checking out the free Amazon preview of their book. Provide the answer at this form. Note: You must answer the questions for every author in the round -robin to be considered to win the $200 first place, $150 second place or $75 third place Amazon gift cards. These prizes are USD values. If you are not a U.S. resident, you will get a gift card from the Amazon store for your country; however, it will be valued at these USD amounts.)

At the end of my post is a link to the next blog, who will provide a link to the next blog, etc., to the very end, creating a circle (a round-robin) visit through all of the authors’ blogs.

I’m thrilled to get the chance to tell you about my book Her Homegrown Christmas Wish. This is the fourth and final book in the Home to Harmony series. I can think of no better way to wrap up a series!

All five-year-old Olivia Beacon wants for Christmas is a dad…

How on earth is single mom Hannah Beacon supposed to make that happen? To make matters worse, her holiday season is off to a rocky start. Between transferring ownership of the family bakery amid her mom’s decline, raising her young daughter, and the onslaught of Christmas orders, she can’t handle much more. And then her estranged husband shows up on her doorstep.

In the New Year, Daniel Ford is set to begin production on a TV show for the Hope and Family network. After years in the industry, the role is his biggest break yet. But when he sees his wife on screen with a mini version of herself, he realizes his shot at fame is on the line.

Together, Daniel and Hannah agree to start legal divorce proceedings—until Daniel comes face to face with the child that spurred his return. He can’t walk out of his daughter’s life, nor can he continue to deny his feelings for his wife. Will the career Daniel’s always wanted take center stage? Or can the two forgive past hurts to make their daughter’s Christmas wish a reality?

Home to Harmony is a series about faith, family, and forgiveness. It’s about all kinds of second chances. It’s about coming home–even when home might mean an entirely new place.

Let’s begin this scavenger hunt! Go to the book on Amazon at this link and check out the Look Inside.

About my favorite scenes in Her Homegrown Christmas Wish

My favorite scenes in Her Homegrown Christmas Wish *semi-spoiler if you haven’t read it yet* involve the nativity play.

Olivia, Hannah’s daughter, stars in the Sunday School production as Mary, directed by Hannah and Jake Grant.

I often fictionalize moments from my life in my stories. When I started writing the Home to Harmony books, I knew each story took place in a different season. The last book had to be Christmas so I could include a nativity play.

I loved watching my kids perform at our church. While the play-which served as the sermon for the service during the second Sunday in December, third in Advent-changed every year from the traditional story to more contemporary re-telling, it was always very sweet.

The pre-school kids dressed as barn yard animals (thanks to clever hats) and sang the same songs every year. I catch myself singing Baby Jesus, We Love You throughout the season.

This series holds such a special place in my heart, and I hope you are enjoying it!

Serena’s New Year’s Wish #holidayromance #countdowntochristmas #anaiahpress

When Serena Cole came to Chicago for a fresh start, she never imagined she’d save a little girl from getting hit by a car, or that her new boss would turn out to be the little girl’s father. But he is, and now Serena must decide if she can work for the man she’s quickly falling in love with. Her heart has plenty of room for Mark and his daughter, but she wants more than he’s willing to give, and that could very well be a dealbreaker for her.

Mark Harper never wanted a second chance at love, until Serena came into his life. He’s certain she’s the one, but when she asks for the one thing he can’t give her, he’s not so certain of their future. Can he let go of his fear and give Serena the one thing she wants above all else, or will his inability to budge drive her away forever?

The companion to Angelica’s Christmas Wish, this novella will get you ready for the new year!

Tell us how your characters celebrate the holidays

Mark and his late wife Lily hosted a New Year’s Eve party in their downtown Chicago office building each year. Mark quit that tradition after Lily passed away but his family is trying to talk him into having a party this year.

What is the theme of this book? If it’s part of a series, how does this book fit into the series?

Two people falling in love find that their dreams for their lives are not the same. They have to decide if they can overcome their differences or if their relationship will be over before it really begins.

This is the second book in the series.

What inspired this story?

After finishing and publishing the novella, Angelica’s Christmas Wish, I felt like the story of Serena and Mark wasn’t finished. I decided to write more about the characters and called the sequel “Serena’s New Year’s Wish.”

Any future plans for more stories?

I have ideas for more stories in this series about other characters and holiday wishes. The next one I am focusing on is the story of Shannon, who you will meet in the New Year’s novella.

Any tips to share with fellow authors/aspiring authors? What’s the best advice you’ve ever heard?

Stick with it. Write the stories that are in your head and in your heart. You may not get it published, but the stories will change you. I find that as I write about my characters overcoming their challenges and finding their faith, it makes my own faith grow stronger. I sometimes cry during tender moments in the stories. They touch my heart as I write them and I know they will touch the reader also.

What is your favorite Christmas tradition and/or memory?

My extended family gathers after the holidays for our Christmas dinner and gift exchange. This often means celebrating Christmas on New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day. It’s always fun to spend the time with my sisters and my brother and their families. We lost our parents a few years ago so coming together to celebrate is important to all of us.

Finally! Real Christmas tree? Or fake?

We had a real tree for a few years early in our marriage but quickly learned that cleaning up the mess afterwards was something we didn’t enjoy. We switched to an artificial tree after we moved into a new house and I’ve never gone back to real.
