Back to School Christian Fiction Scavenger Hunt – Stop #7

Hi! My name is Rachelle Paige Campbell, and I write contemporary romance full of heart. I have loved to read and write my entire life. In my opinion, as a writing/school supply fanatic, August is the best month of the year.

Since my childhood, I have looked forward to the Back-to-School sales, even if I wasn’t excited about heading to school again. While I might have suffered anxiety about my teacher, my classmates, and my classes, I didn’t have any worry about stocking up.

Crisp notebooks? Brand-new pencils? Perfect planners? Yes, please!

I love a fresh start. While I’m not a big fan of New Year’s resolutions, I do love the promise of a new year. By the time August arrives, I am ready for a second dose of motivation. Nothing represents that starting from scratch, anything is possible feeling better than a box of perfectly sharpened pencils.

I thought this was a universal experience. In the author world, many of us hoard notebooks and planners. We stock up on markers and pens. We share sales at our favorite stationery retailers.

Since having my own kids, however, I have learned that is not true. Getting my kids to head to the store to shop is tough! In the age of Internet shopping, however, I’ve reached a solution. The few items that can be “personalized” (like binders and pencil cases) are ordered online, and I head to the store to purchase the rest.

I can spend as long as I like strolling the aisles and scanning every folder, pencil, and pen on display. I scour the sticky notes (so many cute shapes are available now) and study the desk calendars. In short, I take hours on a trip that could have been minutes. But I leave recharged (and hopefully with only a few extras added to the cart).

As I write this, I am taking an inventory of what my kids still need for the start of school. I’m itching to head back to the store. And I know I’ll leave with at least a renewed sense of purpose and probably a couple of pens.

Here’s a little about the book I am giving away…

Amy Parker returns to her hometown for a two-week visit before moving on to take a job she really doesn’t want. But when the historic mansion that sparked her passion for history hits the market, she thinks she’s finally found a way to stay for good. With the help and support of family and friends, Amy sets out to make her lifelong dreams come true.

The tenth anniversary of the tragic death of Jake Grant’s best friend is fast approaching, and all he wants to do is create a charity to honor him. Too bad Jake has no idea what he’s doing. To make matters worse, the woman he holds responsible for his friend’s death is back in town, and she doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon.

Jake and Amy need each other’s help, so they forge a professional relationship to get what they both want. As they grow closer, a shocking revelation forces Jake and Amy to make sense of the past if they have any hope of a future together.
