I can smell the pine trees, the pollen heavy in the air

I hear the water lapping against the shore

I feel the wind off the lake whip across my face and dance in my hair

And I’m transported to my favorite spot on the beach at Big Bay State Park, a sandy shoreline on the edge of the woods and one of the settings in my book
