One date leads to A Stalker to Die For

Ashley Morris thought the worst part of online dating was awkward small talk. She was wrong.

After one disastrous date, a man named Nick won’t take no for an answer. His calls and texts escalate into threats, break-ins, and a terror that shadows her every move. Desperate for safety, Ashley hires Jackson Russo— a talented painter with a kind heart and a protective streak— to renovate her home. But as their friendship deepens into something more, Nick’s obsession turns deadly.

Caught between a stalker’s rage and a love she never expected, Ashley must trust God’s protection and her own instincts to survive. With Jackson by her side, she’ll fight for her life— and for a future worth living.

A faith-filled romantic suspense with a slow-burn, closed-door romance and a guaranteed happily ever after. Perfect for fans of Lynette Eason, Dani Pettrey, and Dee Henderson.

Welcome to Katy!

Tell us three things we’d find if we looked under your heroine’s bed? How about the hero’s?

Love this question! Under Ashley’s bed, you’d find a Bible, her slippers, and a box of photos of her mom. Under Jackson’s bed, you’d find a paintbrush, a sketchbook, and his work boots.

What is the theme of this book?

This is a stand-alone book. The overarching theme is God’s protection and the importance of community. Ashley would not have made it through her ordeal without friends and loved ones by her side. She relied on her faith, her friends, her brother, and her new love interest to help her deal with the monster stalking her. No matter what trials we are facing, God provides what we need to make it through, even if it’s not what we would have chosen for ourselves if it was up to us.

Why do you write this genre? What inspired this story? Do you write any other genres?

This is actually the first romantic suspense I’ve written. I previously have only written contemporary Christian romance, which is similar, but I have never added the suspense element before. I love reading romantic suspense, so I thought it would be fun to try my hand at writing it. I think the inspiration behind this story was pure imagination! Thankfully, I have never had a personal encounter with a stalker, and I have never dated someone I hired to work on my house, lol. I’ve been married to my husband for almost 24 years, and I’m happy to report no stalkers for either of us.

Any tips to share with fellow authors/aspiring authors? What’s the best advice you’ve ever heard.

Don’t let rejection get you down! It happens to all of us. Even if you get a contract with a publisher or agent, there is no guarantee you will make a lot of money. That’s not at all meant to discourage anyone, but instead to EN-courage you to write what you love and enjoy the process! If you enjoy what you do, and even one person benefits from your writing, then it’s a worthy pursuit. But if you do hope to make it big, be prepared to self-promote and come up with effective marketing tools, because there’s a lot of competition out there. I wish the best to all aspiring authors!
